Reference: Numbers Chapters 13 & 14

A danger exists in assuming that the majority is right. The majority, when against the Word of God, results in tragedy. Remember the people of Israel responding to the twelve spies. The majority sided with the ten spies. Only two from the entire nation sided with God. Only those two entered the land and received the blessings.

In Numbers 13–14 Moses sent 12 men into the land of Canaan to gather information about its manpower, defenses, and fertility. They returned 40 days later with samples of fruit and produce of the land. Their opinion was unanimous concerning the fertility of Canaan: “It truly flows with milk and honey”

Numbers 13:27

27 Thus they told him, and said, “We went in to the land where you sent us; and it certainly does flow with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.

NASB95

But they were divided on whether the land should be invaded. Because of their lack of faith in God, the Hebrew people were forced to wander for 40 additional years in the wilderness.
